NEWS RELEASE:
Bangkok International Wine Fair (BIWF), Thailand first fully fledged international wine trade fair, will be held at the Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon Shopping Center, from 25-27 November 2010.
The fair has attracted numerous exhibitors from France, Italy, Australia and South Africa. Its main aims are twofold – to interest boutique producers from these countries in the markets of Southeast Asia, and to introduce local importers to a wider range of interesting wines than they usually encounter.
During the three-day event, several key events will be staged such as the ‘James Bond’s Winemaker Masterclass’. Hubert de Bouard from Chateau Angelus will be presenting several Angelus vintages, as well as other wines for which he acts as consultant. Another notable wine event will be the ‘Piedmont Wine Masterclass and Vertical Tasting’ by Pio Boffa, owner of Pio Cesare.
The Southeast Asia Sommelier Competition – a French wine sommelier competition where Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore Vietnam and Indonesia will contend for the regional title – will be making its debut at BIWF.
To celebrate the inaugural Bangkok International Wine Fair, BIWF will host a fine-wine gala dinner at the Dusit Thani Bangkok on 29 November. This event, which aims to promote Bangkok as one of Asia’s leading fine wine and destinations, is intended for genuine wine lovers and connoisseurs, and is expected to be one of the city’s culinary high points of the year.
