Fad Diet Wipes Out Norway’s Butter Supply

Saturday, December 10th, 2011

Culinary Tidbits . . . I have recently written about a butter shortage in Sweden and now it seems, that due to an immensely popular high-fat/low-carb fad diet, Norway’s butter supply has dwindled to almost nothing, well, unless your are willing to pay $13 for 250 grams.

Bangkok’s Gracious and Affordable Hospitals

Bumrungrad & Samitivej Hospitals

Both of these hospitals are better than world class, and the public areas and dining establishments remind one more of a five star hotel than a hospital, with some restaurants even offering wine and other alcoholic beverages which is a very civilized gesture to patients, and more specifically for their visitors and guests. Good hospitals in the city are not  just limited to these two, and the very fine hospital system in Bangkok is becoming known by many in the Middle East and they arrive here in droves to seek surgical procedures, and then recuperate with a holiday at one of the many tropical islands. What could be better, when you are saving money at the same time!

A cozy Neapolitan Italian restaurant which offers various types of southern pasta dishes, many veal selections including a quite good vitello tonnato. Pizzas are made from quality ingredients and then cooked in a stone oven, on occasion they were more soggy than they should be, and at other times we found the pizza crisp and good; weather and the type and blend of flour can enter into this equation as well as the pizzaiolo, as at other times we found it crisp and good.
