Tenkaichi Nagiya, Thonglor Soi 13 – Bangkok

Saturday, September 24th, 2011

Tenkaichi Nagiya Yakatori on Thonglor Soi 13 in heart of Japanese Town has just recently opened and is very cozy and exudes a warm, welcoming feeling. The wait-staff is informed and the cooking is good. They also offer a varied  selection of Sake by the bottle and small bottles. Shochu is offered by glass and bottle. Their first outlet is located at Nihonmachi behind K-Village.

Slightly in the rear of K-Village is Nihonmachi (Japanese Town) where this new Tenkaichi Yakitori is located. It is highly regarded in the Japanese community as offering very authentic yakitori. I would suggest going on a weekday or book in advance if you speak Japanese, as at the moment, they are usually fully booked on the weekend evenings.

Toriyoshi Yakatori – Tokyo

Opening hours: 5:00pm-11:00pm

This upscale Tokyo yakatori bar has the perfect mix of good quality produce and a highly trained cooking staff, clean design, sexy lighting and high-energy. This place rocks and it is usually very difficult to find a seat. Tonight, however, is Sunday and a little less lively, and finding a seat is not a problem. Even though their other branch in Akasaka may have slightly better chicken wings or some other items, I find that overall, I prefer the Nishi-Azabu branch of Toriyoshi.

The chicken meat ball is one of the best available with a little cartilage, but not too much, left in the mix.
